There’s a bunch of us who have made the trek from San Diego to San Francisco to attend the Web 2.0 Expo. Here’s a quick update with some big news about a local company we all know and love.

Overview

So far the conference is pretty great. I’ve only got an Expo pass so I can’t report on the sessions, but I’ve heard from conference attendees that they’re getting value out of the sessions they’re attending. I, personally, felt like I wasted my time at yesterday’s afternoon keynote. O’Reilly is an amazing speaker, but the Microsoft and AIM guys were basically pimping out their products just a tad too much for my liking.

It probably comes as no surprise that the best place to be is in the halls with the cool kids. I’ve been spending a majority of my time at the Blogtropol.us Blogger Lounge (they’re doing live vlog interewing all day, everyday), and I’ve connected with some of the greatest minds in the web and tech space.

San Diego News: MindTouch Lands Mozilla

When I was visiting the MindTouch booth (#243), Damien Howley and Aaron Fulkerson shared some big news about a new client — Mozilla, you know those guys behind Firefox, is converting from their existing wiki platform to Deki Wiki and bringing with them the thousands of pages of documentation from the Mozilla Development Center. Congrats guys! Check out Damien and the MindTouch rabbit.

Other News

Companies are announcing news left and right, most of it is being covered by Mashable, TechCrunch and the Web 2.0 Expo News page. What I found intriguing is the annoucement that Mozilla is actively working on a mobile browser tentatively called “Fennick.” Also getting a lot of blog talk, is Scoble’s interview with Ray Ozzie of Microsoft about the release of Live Mesh.

Talk Back

Are you here? What do you think of the sessions? Did you get denied access to any parties (I did)? What’s great, what’s not? We’d love to hear your experiences of the event.
